Acts Re-Acts Vision Statement

Initiated by Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts London (UAL), Acts Re-Acts is a curated exposition of work from Theatre, and Fine Artists who have live performance-making as a central component of their professional practice or wish to extend or explore their current practice through live performance.

Wimbledon College of Arts is particularly interested in the different ways in which Theatre-based performance and Fine Art performance is staged and contextualized. Acts Re-Acts explores both the distinctions and hybridities between Fine Art and Theatre: two fields that give Wimbledon College of Arts its unique identity within CCW and UAL.

The exposition takes the form of a three or four-week festival centred on the Wimbledon Space and features performance, new media, workshops, discussions, events, interventions, seminars, installations and residency outcomes by artists from the University of the Arts London (UAL) and invited guests.

In response to an open call to UAL staff, PhD students and guest artists, participants are selected by a committee of theatre and fine art specialists.

The event receives dedicated technical support from professionals and work placement students from WCA.

Acts Re-Acts opens up a discourse between students and staff across UAL and beyond who are making, thinking or writing about performance in fine art and theatre or who inhabit that ‘dangerous border zone’ between.

Acts Re-Acts transforms the Wimbledon Space into a site for performance, a place to explore the diverse performance activities happening across UAL.
